OUR STORY

I'm Shanae Grant, I'm a wife and mother of 3 boys. I'm currently a stay at home mom, but I used to work at a Home for At Risk Youth. There I learned the importance of parents taking an interest in what their kids like, including the content their kids watch, play, and listen to. Growing up, I played a lot of board and video games with my family. Now, when I play games with my kids, I feel a great deal of nostalgia. It's a great bonding experience for all of us, and we want to promote other families to do the same.

My husband, Lucas Grant, is an amazing husband and father. His occupation is a School Counselor. In the past, he did some research on violence in kids who play video games. He found that all video games, violent or non-violent, can lead to kids having violent tendencies, due to them experiencing frustration caused by the video game, and not knowing how to express that frustration in a healthy way. However, those violent tendencies can be counteracted if a parent is present when their kids are experiencing frustration. Parents can teach their kids to deal with frustration in a healthy and non destructive way. Thus, helping kids deal with their emotions positively, and teaching them a life lesson in the process.

My oldest son, Connor, is a very kind and smart kid. He loves to play video and board games. He is the one who initially came up with Grant Family Gaming. He really enjoys watching Youtube Gaming Channels and wanted to make one of his own, but knew he wanted his parents to be a part of it. He presented the idea to me one day, and I thought, what a great idea, to have a channel that shows a family playing games together. Connor, also came up with our logo, the Rhinoceros breaking through the brick wall, which is supposed to be symbolic of "Boss Levels" on video games, that are hard to beat.

My middle son, Carson, is one of the sweetest kids on earth. He, like his older bother, also loves to play video and board games, and enjoys watching Youtube gaming channels. He was excited when Connor came up with the idea for Grant Family Gaming, and has been extremely supportive. Carson is in the Gifted and Talented Program in his school. He tested in the 99th percentile in the United States, for his grade in the subjects math and science. He loves to figure out how things work. At age 2 he was taking apart pens, completely, and then putting them back together. He's often the one that figures out how to pass a level on a video game when the rest of us get stuck.

Our youngest Corban, is a very busy toddler. He tries to keep up with his two older brothers, and can often be found getting into things he shouldn't. He currently is too young to play video and board games with us, but we look forward to when he is old enough to do so. Connor and Carson are both very helpful with Corban, and they both like to make him giggle whenever they can.
